The California legislature likes to meddle into medical affairs. That not only is dangerous for the legislator, but increases the cost of health care and lowers the quality. Sometimes these lawmakers blurt it out and have no idea as to what they say would mean to the well informed. Headlines by McClatchy reporter in the Sacramento Bee makes a nice point. http://www.sacbee.com/2011/02/19/3414900/speier-abortion.html
In an emotionally gripping apparently spontaneous moment Thursday night, Speier used her own abortion experience to rebut Rep Christ Smith; R-N.J. Smith had been reading graphic accounts of what happens when women abort their fetuses.
“I’m one of those women he spoke about just now,” Speier said. “I had a procedure at 17 weeks, pregnant with a child that had moved from the vagina into the cervix. I lost a baby.”
Now for a baby to move from the vagina into the cervix, would not only be painful, but also a miraculous achievement. Such a miracle has never happen in the Annals of Medicine. Or was she misquoted.
My mother frequently mentioned that sometimes it’s best when acting like a fool not to open your mouth and removed all doubt.
And to think she votes on national health care issues explains why government health care will always in the sewer.
